Little wonder if Dutch households pile up waste if small containers are in. I’ve been scouting our closest convenience store for larger packages of cold cuts but it seems like ten is the maximum amount in one wrap.
Lettuce is already shredded and packed into a plastic bag, often offered in a range of ready mixes. Convenient, yet very processed. In Finland you would get them in a tiny pot of earth – in fact too small to keep anything growing for any longer period. However, one surprise I got was when I picked out bubble gum that I thought to be closest to the Finnish variety. In fact the graphics seemed so familiar I wasn’t completely sure if the same brand is sold back at home. What I wasn’t prepared for was that each gum was single-packed into a ‘medical’ wrap! Now what do the different package preferences tell of each country?
